A\u00a0new variety of butterfly joined\u00a0my photograph collection at the weekend. Despite my lack of previous acquaintance with it, the\u00a0Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) is now fairly common in Scotland,\u00a0having spread considerably over the last 30 years.\u00a0This one was spotted in a clearing in a wood (Shell Bay) which is one of its favourite damp habitats, along with meadows and riverbanks.<\/p>\n

And hopefully my photographic intervention prevented rather than caused a tornado.<\/p>\n
