The house martins mostly just use mud. Theirs are the nests that you see under the eaves and in the upper corners of windows. Swallows typically nest in outbuildings and porches, while you won’t see a swift’s nest because it will be in a hole, and as you might expect, sand martins nest in holes in sandy riverbanks.
